Santorini Restaurant in Kuala Lumpur

Location: Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Date: 2018

Location Address: Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Status: Under construction

Santorini Restaurant is an international project located in Kuala Lumpur next to Petronas Towers. The intention was to bring the Cycladic architecture and aesthetic in a totally different culture and environment.

To begin with, the ground floor consists of two main dining areas and a stands out bar  with an olive tree in the center while a small showcase shop is placed near to entrance where local Greek products can be found. The design leads the guests inside the restaurant through a path connecting the zones. Light enters the building through the big arched openings and the glass dome above the bar. Furthermore, on the façade decorative openings create dramatic shadows.

Externally, the total area is divided into six zones, one on the upper floor. Each zone has a Greek name dedicated to the notions of memory and place. The concept is integrated with organic forms, curvy walls, outdoor steps, built outdoor sitting areas and water features –pool, fountain, water area which can be transformed into a stage for special events.

The interior combines simple and natural materials. Dominant color of the restaurant is the pure white. Color was used mostly as a design tool to highlight the architectural elements, the route and the functions. The architectural design creates extraordinary outdoor areas offering unlimited views over the urban fabric of Kuala Lumpur.

Santorini Restaurant is an upcoming project, which attempts to create a journey and connect the guests with the place and the Santorini’s culture.
